The Following Five - Up

UP. This film was the one I was most looking forward to writing about, it is my hands down favourite. The only Pixar film that comes close to this on is the first Toy Story. The strength and depth of the characters is unbelievably strong, the beginning of the film is one of my favourite scenes of any film.

The way this scene has no dialog but tells near enough the whole back story and insight into the characters is inspirational. It relates to an audience beautifully, it shows what seems to be a perfect fairytale story, that ends on a really sad note, as well as showing a bit of terrible news that no one should have to bear- losing a child. Even if this had been an animated short I believe it would have won many awards. Up is an amazing animation and one of my favourite films. There are lots of conventional Pixar approaches that have been used before, and story developments that have been spun around, like how the main characters childhood hero turn out to be his enemy, similar to The Incredibles
